As an innovative business leader, entrepreneur, software developer and data architect, Trent Livingston possesses a unique hybrid of technology and business skills surrounding today’s modern data architectures and connected devices. Leveraging his innovative data-centric approach to electronic discovery, in 2018 he founded the revolutionary ediscovery SaaS company, ESI Analyst. The award-winning startup quickly became recognized as the leading modern data ediscovery system in the industry and was acquired by CloudNine in 2021. Currently, as Managing Director of Iterum, he provides expert witness and data analysis services to the legal community, as well as business and technology advisory consulting to startups and entrepreneurs.

Having an expert witness and electronic discovery career spanning 22 years, Mr. Livingston has held roles as CEO, CTO, Managing Director, and Director across the software and consulting segments of the industry. As an accomplished industry speaker and trainer, he provides continuing legal education to attorneys, and has presented at ediscovery focused conferences such as The Masters Conference and ALM’s LegalWeek. His thought leadership has been published in Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, The Data Security and Privacy Law Journal and The New Jersey Law Journal. Mr. Livingston has also been interviewed by various trade publications, syndicated legal networks, and podcasts as well as being featured in several online legal blogs.

Mr. Livingston’s industry experience spans programming and development across multiple cloud-based web technologies, structured data analytics, technical project management, information governance, intellectual property and complex data discovery and analysis. He has testified at both the Federal and State judicial levels surrounding data analytics involving theft of trade secrets, data breach, and software development.

Throughout Mr. Livingston’s career he has been a leader, speaker, and educator. His roles include Adjunct Professor for Golden Gate University, as well as senior positions with LECG, iDiscovery Solutions, SPI Litigation Direct and Electronic Evidence Discovery (now DTI). Before his work in electronic discovery, Mr. Livingston was a software test engineer and developer at Microsoft. He currently resides in the greater Seattle area of Washington state.
